Economic entities and local authorities assisted in developing entrepreneurial capacities

Representatives of local public authorities, entrepreneurs and members of nongovernmental organizations on January 30 took part in a national workshop staged within a project to develop entrepreneurial capacities. The Business Advisory Center, which is implementing the project, presented the results of a stage that covered three settlements of three districts, IPN reports.

The Center’s executive director Anatol Palade said the general goal of the project is to strengthen the entrepreneurial and administrative capacities of local key players so as to increase social, informational and commercial cohesion at local level. They thus want to encourage the authorities to extend the cooperation opportunities and to ensure the synergy of efforts towards a better life in the Black Sea Basin Regions.

Anatol Palade noted that an analysis of the competitive advantage was made in the three settlements. As a result of this exercise, a beekeepers association was created in Chiscareni village of Sangerei district. Within it, there are carried out a number of training activities aimed at developing the businesses of members. Among the planned initiatives are to create a regional market and to provide assistance to young entrepreneurs who want to get financing.

In Sipca, Soldanesti, there was set up a regional information center for beekeeper. Training programs and consultancy services were developed for beekeepers. The entrepreneurs working in the beekeeping sector plan to create a cluster that would produce beehives, grow bee families, sell honey wholesale through intermediaries and provide other services. In the future, there will be opened a fruit and plant drying unit and a recreational center.

The local authorities of Domulgeni village of Floresti district were helped to design a project in the area of tourism. An international donor was identified and the funds will be used to promote the village’s image by creating a website and printing a brochure. The village museum will be renovated and an agri-pension will be build up. There will also be opened a sausage factory.

The project “Local/Regional Economic Development Network as Decisive Point for Enhanced Competitiveness in the Black Sea Basin Regions” is implemented by the Business Advisory Center in partnership with the National Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Development Center of Armenia, the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Armenia, Gegharkunik (GCCI)-Armenia, Pieriki Anaptixiaki S.A.-O.L.A. of Greece, the Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research of Georgia, and the Business Agency of Bulgaria.
