Economic commission rejects fiscal-budgetary policy bill proposed by Government

The parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance did not approve the fiscal-budgetary policy bill put forward by the Government, chairman Veaceslav Ionita said Thursday, immediately after an ad hoc meeting of the commission held during a break in the legislature's sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Veaceslav Ionita, six members of the commission voted in favor of the bill, while seven voted against. Two of the seven MPs represent the Democratic Party, while the other five – the Communist Party. “The legislative body is to pronounce on the bill itself. The commission rejected it, but Parliament can pass it,” Veaceslav Ionita stated. He did not say why the Democrat and Communist lawmakers voted against, but specified that the two Democrat MPs were Valeriu Guma and Adrian Candu. The latter replaced member Vlad Plahotniuc in the commision's meeting. Ionita said he suggested approving the concept of the bill conceptually as the lawmakers may propose amendments in Parliament and vote on them separately, but his proposal was rejected. When the news story was published, the MPs of the ruling alliance were discussing the situation in a meeting.
