Over the last 40 years, Durlesti River has turned into a real dump with thousands of cubic metres of garbage, becoming an “ecologic bomb” for the municipality of Chisinau. Durlesti Mayor Veaceslav Nedelea told the session of the City Hall on March 26 that the water of this river crosses the territory of “Moldexpo” Exhibition Centre too. The Mayor of Durlesti town announced that the National Ecologic Fund offered MDL 333 thousand for the reconstruction of several waste collecting facilities. Also, the Mayor mentioned that he asked the Government to offer financial resources from the Reserve Fund in order to clean the river bed. In this context, head of the Communal Division Mihai Solcan mentioned that the works related to the refitting and cleaning of the territories nearby churches, apartment blocks were already complete, as well as of the postal boxes and stairs. At the same time, Solcan criticised the activity of companies which did not engage in refitting the territory. In this context, interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan said had he will order the creation of a special committee which will analyse the way the works are carried out, and the results will be presented at one of the sessions of the City Hall.
