The decision of the Central Committee of the PCRM not to take part in the election of the head of state shows that this party forgot what it promised during the election campaign – to contribute to the establishment of political stability and peace in Moldova, the secretary general of the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” Andrei Dumbravean, said during a news conferee held at Info-Prim Neo on November 10. He said that such behavior reminds of the manners of the Bolsheviks, who aimed to divide and continuously terrorize the whole society. The non-election of the head of state endangers the implementation of important projects aimed at overcoming the consequences of the crisis and encouraging the economic recovery of the country, which were initiated by the Government. “The PCRM's decision not to participate in the voting and the political statements about the history and the status of the official language made by left-wing organizations show that there are forces in Moldova that want to permanently keep the society under control, in the destructive turmoil of revolutionary battles,” the Ecologist Party says in a statement distributed at the conference. The “Green Alliance” considers that the political crisis that has lasted for over a year can result in in uncontrolled acts. The young wing of the party drew the Parliament's attention to this through a picket. The Ecologist Party backs the initiative to modify the Constitution so that the President of Moldova is elected by a simple majority of votes. This will avoid the necessity of holding a referendum, which implies large costs. “If things go wrong in a democratic state of law, the legislation should be improved,” Andrei Dumbraveanu said. In another connection, Anatol Prohniţchi, who is responsible for the party's organizational activities, informed the press that the Green Parties from the Black Sea Basin held a meeting in Sevastopol late in October and that the European United Left-Nordic Green Left expressed its concern about the political, economic and social stability in the countries of the region. Corina Dogot, a member of the party, said that the young wing of the Ecologist Party intends to launch a number of initiatives. Some of them are aimed at motivating the children and relatives to support the elderly persons so that they do not have to live in old people's homes.
