The Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” advises the sexual minorities to hold the gay parade not in the Great National Assembly Square as they announced, but in Valea Morilor Park, on the alley in front of the international exhibitions center Moldexpo. Members of the party consider the tensions and conflicts in the society can be thus avoided, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Ecologist Party promotes the observance of the human rights, including of the minorities, as provided in our programs,” the party's secretary general Andrei Dumbraveanu told a news conference on Friday. “The trends of the previous years (to stage gay parades in central Chisinau – e.n.) showed that the population does not tolerate such demonstrations and we must realize that such events can generate social tension that will damage Moldova's image abroad,” Andrei Dumbraveanu said. According to him, the rights of the sexual minorities must be respected, but the minorities must have certain responsibilities towards the majority. “We call on the sexual minorities to choose another place for holding the parade,” Andrei Dumbraveanu said. “The park Valea Morilor is a not as crowded as the Great National Assembly Square and the Chisinau City Hall should take this into account.” An initiative group informed the City Hall that they intend to stage a gay parade in Chisinau's central square on May 4. Last year, the homosexuals gave up holding the parade in protest against the violation of the right to assembly. In 2008, the parade of gays and lesbians was foiled by counter-protesters. The police followed the events from a distance and did not intervene. The protesters were blocked in the bus and treated rudely.
