License of Rotalin Gaz Trading suspended


The National Agency for Energy Regulation ANRE has suspended the license of the supplier SRL Rotalin Gaz Trading for a period of 3 months. Its clients will be temporarily taken over by Moldovagaz on grounds of its supplier of last resort status.

● WEDNESDAY, October 4

Cabinet approves pay raises for doctors and lump sums for teachers


The Cabinet allocated additional financial resources to support the “Bonus for Moldova” program. It goes to 846 million lei in one-off payments and pay raises, 500 million lei for roads, regional development and agriculture, and 352 million lei for paying heat and electricity bills at schools, kindergartens and other budget-funded institutions.

North-South rail corridor to be rehabilitated with EBRD loan

The Vălcineț-Ocnița-Bălți-Ungheni-Chișinău-Căinari rail corridor that is 446 km long will be rehabilitated with a €23 million loan that will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The Cabinet approved the ratification of an agreement to this effect.

Cabinet approves negotiation of memorandum on gas and electricity with Romania

The Cabinet approved the initiation of negotiations on a draft memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Romania on the implementation of the projects needed to interconnect the natural gas and electricity networks.

Information system at NBM to monitor money laundering risks


An information system installed at the National Bank of Moldova will monitor all the transactions in the banking sector so as to identify transactions that generate suspicions of money laundering. With the help of this Software Solution, the negative phenomena will be detected at the incipient stage, while the National Bank will notify the responsible state institutions.

Gagauzia must take over VAT refunds to local businesses under new amendment

The Moldovan Parliament adopted in final reading an amendment to the Fiscal Code whereby businesses in Gagauzia will get their VAT and other tax refunds from the autonomy’s budget, rather than from the national one.

Energocom bought 280m cubic meters of natural gas past month


SA Energocom during September 4 – October 5 purchased approximately 3 million MWh of natural gas, which is about 280 million cubic meters, from seven companies, at three different delivery points.

Agrifood Partnership Platform launched in Chisinau

An Agrifood Partnership Platform was launched in Chisinau as an instrument for strengthening the agrifood sector. The event involved representatives of 11 EU member states and of international organizations. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea, Deputy Prime Minister, said the launch of the agricultural platform means the start of an irreversible development process in the interests of farmers.

Dorin Recean responds to BCS group: When opposition goes to Moscow, it should ask for end to war


Prime Minister Dorin Recean said the augmentation of citizens’ incomes is the only method by which they can respond to the no-confidence motion proposed by the parliamentary opposition. According to the Premier, the Government is making every effort to increase the people’s wellbeing and the program “Bonus for Moldova” is a relevant example in this regard. The official explained that a large part of the economic problems experienced by the country are due to the Russian military aggression in Ukraine.

Official reserve assets almost US$64m up

The official reserve assets at end-September were US$4.881,93 billion, an increase of US$63.96 million on August 30, 2023, IPN reports, with reference to the National Bank of Moldova.

National Wine Day celebrated in central square of Chisinau

The 22nd edition of the National Wine Day is marked in the Great National Assembly Square. It is a crossroads event that takes stock of the accomplishments of the past few years. It is also a call for solidarity to the industry and all the people who in time became involved and contributed to developing this sector, the director of the National Office of Vine and Wine Elizaveta Breahnă said in the inaugural ceremony.
