ECHR to examine one more case against Moldova Government
The European Court of Human Rights will examine the case of Flux vs. Moldova (no. 2) on Tuesday, July 3.
The case concerns defamation proceedings in which Victor Stepaniuc complained that Flux had published an article accusing him, in his capacity as leader of the Communist Party parliamentary group, of selling off companies, notably a canned food plant, for personal gain.
The newspaper accuses the Government that it violated the article 6 (right to a fair trial) and 10 (freedom of expression) of the European Convention of Human Rights.
3 weeks ago, this newspaper won another case at the ECHR (violation of article 10). Then, the Strasbourg Court obliged the Government to pay the plaintiff about EUR 4.5 thousand.
