ECHR organises public hearings on case „Manole and others vs Moldova”
European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will organise on Tuesday, 7 March, public hearings in case started by Larisa Manole and other reporters of the TV station „Moldova 1” against Moldova.
Vitalie Nagacevschi, chairman of the Jurist Organisation for Human Rights, said that this is a special case for ECHR, that’s why public hearings are organised.
He also mentioned that petitioner reporters, members of the Strike Committee of „Moldova 1”, required to the Court to recognise the fact of violation of the Art.10 of the European Convention of Human Rights (freedom of speech). They noted that back than management of TVM imposed the censorship of political topics and that the pressures on the reporters became more intense when the Communist came to power.
A decision in favour of petitioners will create a precedent in jurisprudence of Moldova, the notorious jurist noted.
