The Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance decided that Ecaterina Caraman will be suggested for the post of director of the National Commission for Financial Markets (NCFM) for being confirmed by Parliament, IPN reports.
Ecaterina Caraman has 17 years’ experience in the field of state securities and the capital market. Since 2014, she has managed the activity of the Corporate Investment Department of a commercial bank, being directly responsible for the implementation of the bank’s investment policies and the organization of its activity on the nonbank financial market as an investment society (Stock Exchange). Simultaneously, she is the president of the Board of IM “Biroul de Credit” SA, a member of the Board of the Stock Exchange of Moldova, the president of the Board of “Ionel” SA, a member of the Board of “MAIB-Leasing” SA. She holds a NCFM certificate as a specialist in securities.
A month ago, Parliament decided to discharge the members of the Administration Board of the National Commission for Financial Markets. According to the responsible commission’s annual report for 2020, the NCFM didn’t take action or took late actions in relation to the nonbank financial market, showing incapacity to improve the situation on the market. This led to unfavorable effects on the nonbank market and to its degradation that was confirmed by figures.
