EC funds projects to supply drinking water, build sewerage systems and sewage disposal plants in Moldova
EUR 2 mln have been earmarked by the European Commission (Food Security Programme) for the projects designed to supply drinking water, to build sewerage systems and sewage disposal plants in Moldova in the communities that need them the most.
According to a press release from the EU Representation in Chisinau, on January 18, there will be held official ceremonies occasioned by completing the projects implemented thanks to the above-mentioned finances in Dorotcaia and Cosnita villages, Dubasari raion, situated in the security zone.
In Dorotcaia, there were built 13 km of water pipes, installed two water towers, refitted 6 sanitary blocks at the kindergarten, mounted a mini sewage disposal plant with a capacity of 24 cu. M, and the school in the village was connected to the aqueduct network. Besides, there were ensured the access to these services to all about 5,000 residents, of whom 2,000 benefit from them already. The project’s cost was of 2 mln 181 thousand lei.
Under the project implemented in Cosnita village, the cost of which is of 1 mln 762 thousand lei, there were built 10.5 km of aqueduct, installed two water towers, refitted 6 sanitary blocks at the school. Currently, the homes of about 240 persons are connected to the water pipe, and this process is continuing.
Additionally, besides EC’s funds, it is used the contribution of the Moldovan Government and of the 16 communities benefiting from investments. The respective contribution totals about 6 mln lei.
The community projects related to drinking water, building of sewerage systems and sewage disposal plants, supported by the EC and carried out with the technical assistance provided by the Social investment Fund in Moldova, will enable the access to improved social services to over 70,000 people.
