The works to rehabilitate about 1,400 meters of water pipelines in Tohatin commune of Chisinau municipality, estimated at €5.6 million, are in full swing. They were launched at the end of April and the workers managed so far to rehabilitate the water network on Trandafirilor St, on a distance of 300 meters. The works on Pacii St continue. These all form part of the program to rehabilitate 190 km of water supply and sewerage networks and 7 km of sewer pipes in Chisinau municipality, IPN reports.
According to building site chief Ion Ionet, the works go according to plan despite particular impediments. “There are many individual connections. Works are now performed on Cantemir St. As the area is rather congested, during digging we find underground pipes that are partially not indicted in the project and are rather damaged. There are also broken heat, sewer or gas pipes. Therefore, the works go on with difficulty as we have to remove or bypass these pipes where it is possible,” he stated, noting the works are to be completed in 2-3 months.
The program of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” to rehabilitate 190 km of water supply and sewerage networks and 7 km of sewer pipes envisions works in the capital city and the suburban communes of Tohatin, Durlesti and Vatra that will be executed during April 2018 – June 2019. At the start of June, works will be done in Buiucani and Rascani districts of Chisinau.
The contract is implemented as part of the program to develop the water supply system in Chisinau municipality that is financed by the EIB and EBRD and with an investment grant provided through the EU’s Neighborhood Investment Facility.
