The Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists insistently asks that the acting Government should support the farmers affected by the heavy rain with hail and high winds. The party’s candidates said the farmers are disappointed that the executive didn’t react to a request made a week ago, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, Socialist MP Radu Mudreac, who heads the Parliament’s commission on agriculture and food industry, said that about 2,800 hectares of crops had been affected in a number of districts by June 10. “We asked the Government to intervene and support the farmers affected by calamities and indicated the financing source – the state reserve – but nothing has been done since then. The extent of damage, compensation and the time limits weren’t determined,” stated the MP.
In a week of the first approach, another 1,100 hectares of crops were damaged by calamities. Radu Mudreac said he will make new approaches to the Government and, if no reaction follows during five days, the Socialist MPs will take other measures to make the Government help the farmers.
“The agricultural production that was to be sold was compromised, but the resources were to be used to maintain other crops,” stated Radu Mudreac.
