The Chisinau City Hall aims to stage a special Easter campaign to collect assistance for socially underprivileged persons in concert with a number of shop chains, IPN reports.

In the weekly meeting of officials of municipal services, mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said all those who want can become involved and donate food products for those in need. Collection points will be set up at entrances to stores.

“We aim to reach out to as many people as possible. I thank all those who already contributed and those who accepted the idea and also all the persons who intend to contribute. The situation is unordinary and the efforts of all the people count,” stated the mayor.

More than 800 socially-deprived families from Chisinau will benefit from a food parcel given the difficulties generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
