Complex civil protection drilling was carried out in Ștefan Vodă district. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations simulated an earthquake that, according to the scenario, resulted in fires, major destruction of buildings, damage to communication lines, electricity and natural gas networks, IPN reports.
The emergency services were put on alert and the Commission for Emergency Situations was convened to manage the forces and units involved in improving the created situation. The civil protection units, together with the emergency services, intervened in several simulated locations to carry out the planned missions, being guided and trained by specialists of the Inspectorate.
As part of the exercise, the civil protection units were instructed to intervene to deal with a fire reported inside the building of the Ștefan Vodă. House of Culture. There, measures were taken to extinguish the flames, evacuate and rescue the trapped people, and the medical service provided first aid to the victims.
The scenario also envisioned a nuclear accident in a neighboring country. As a result, specialists were involved in the process of informing the population about the risk of a radioactive cloud approaching the territory of our country. Also, within the simulated situation, the civil protection forces and the responsible services coordinated the distribution of potassium iodide to citizens in order to avoid their contamination.
