Early intervention services to be extended to all districts

Starting with 2014, the early intervention services for children with special needs will be extended to all the districts. According to Galina Morari, deputy head of the Health Ministry’s Hospital and Emergency Medical Assistance Division, the children with disabilities will benefit from medical examination and the logopedist’s and kinetotherapy services up to the age of three, IPN reports.

“By these services, we aim to create a safe environment for the development of children with different disability degrees. We also intend to provide assistance not only to the child, but also to the family so as to ensure the children’s efficient development in the family and their educational inclusion,” stated Galina Morari.

The set of proposed services will be provided in medical institutions. Until now, every service was offered separately. In Moldova there are about 15,000 children with special needs.
