Each second Moldovan has high blood pressure, WHO

The incidence of arterial hypertension in Moldova is one of the highest. Each second Moldovan has high blood pressure, shows a WHO study. On the occasion of World Hypertension Day, the National Health Insurance Company of Moldova (CNAM) underlines the necessity of increasing the awareness of the risks and consequences of high blood pressure, IPN reports.

In Moldova, the treatment of hypertension at all the assistance levels is financed with money from the mandatory health insurance funds. All the citizens, including the medically uninsured ones, benefit from hypertension prevention, early detection and supervision services. The CNAM covers the costs for 17 international common names of compensated medicines intended for the treatment of high blood pressure. The funds allocated in the first half of this year for medicines used to treat this disease represent almost 88% of the costs incurred for compensated drugs intended for cardiovascular diseases.

In connection with World Hypertension Day, the CNAM calls on the population to regularly measure blood pressure and to follow several simple rules: give up smoking, avoiding excessive use of alcohol, practicing sport regularly and leading a healthy lifestyle with less sugar, salt and fats and more fruit, vegetables and fibers.
