The municipal public passenger transport companies during six months will test the electronic ticketing system on units of transport. The pilot-project will be launched in January 2021, mayor general of Chisinau Ion Ceban stated in the weekly meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.

Initially, the e-ticketing system will be tested on a trolleybus route and on a bus route and the Chisinau Electric Transport Company and the Urban Bus Company will sign contracts with service providers.

Ion Ceban assured that the operators that will be chosen to implement the pilot-project will not be favored at the tender contests that will he held.

Deputy mayor Victor Chironda said that the specifications were designed by the working group last week .A feasibility study is needed as the previous one, of 2014, contains old data. These should be updated for the pubic-private partnership under which the e-ticketing system is to be implemented.

The Transport Division is to contract a local company that will carry out this study during two months. “The new data will be merged with the study of 2014 and we will be able to choose contractors that will provide electronic ticketing services,” stated Victor Chironda, noting the data is to be collected and updated by next February and the procedure could be launched in one-two months.
