E-Government Centre initiates governance technological modernization activities
The e-Government Centre is launching the initiative “Information Technology in Government” Forum, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from the Center.
The Forum “Information Technology in Government” is a wide platform aimed at knowledge and information exchange in the field of technologic modernization of Government. It will comprise four sessions, organized on a yearly basis, attended by national and international specialists in the field of IT from public and private sectors. The participants will discuss various initiatives of electronic Government and the progress of e-Transformation agenda in the Republic of Moldova.
The sessions within the Forum “Information Technology in Government” will be thematic and will provide participants with the opportunity to engage in a dialogue on implementing and absorbing technologies in the public sector, national and international best practices, as well as latest IT trends. Each event will bring together experts involved in IT and e-Government from the Republic of Moldova, as well as from abroad.
The first session within the Forum is dedicated to interoperability. The event is scheduled for January 17, 2012 and is held in partnership with the Information and Communication Technology Federal Public Service of Belgium. Some of the most experienced experts in the field will be present at the forum. One of them is Frank Leyman, Manager of International Relations Department, Information and Communication Technology Federal Public Service (FEDICT) of Belgium.
The next three sessions will be themed: “Cyber Security”, “Cloud Computing and Enterprise Architecture” and “e-Services Delivery”, and will take place in April, September and, respectively, November 2012.
In 2011, the Government of Moldova approved the “Strategic Program for Governance Technological Modernization”, which defines the key areas of using IT in the public sector to improve government efficiency and public service-delivery. Among the technological initiatives to be implemented in 2012 are: the shared government technology platform based on “cloud computing”, mobile electronic identity, electronic payment gateway, interoperability, single government portal and launch of four pilot electronic services. These products will enable to efficiently manage resources, share and reuse IT resources between different government institutions and deliver benefits of convenience and quality for citizens and businesses in Moldova.
