The residents of an apartment building located at 9/2 Liviu Deleanu St, which was erected with money provided by the EBRD, have stayed without light and hot water for three months. The residents’ representative Anatol Bizgu told a news conference that the dwellers were officially distributed apartments in that building in August, but the block hasn’t been connected to the power supply yet. “This building is intended for socially deprived persons, war veterans and invalids, and families with many children. It was to be put in commission three years ago. But the process was delayed and there were collected large maintenance debts. This may be the reason why the building is not connected to the power supply. The dwellers repeatedly asked the local public authorities and the power supplier to provide them with electricity, but all in vain. The building cannot be connected to the gas supply. Consequently, the dwellers can neither prepare food, not heat water,” said Anatol Bizgu. Nina Mirleanu, who lives on the 11th floor, said that she underwent surgery and had one of her legs amputated. That’s why it is hard for her to get home without elevator. “We are unable to prepare at least a tea at home. We cannot afford to eat by a borsch at the eatery with our pension of 450 lei a month,” she stated. Dweller Simion Frasineanu said that he stays with candles in the evening, but this is very dangerous. There were several cases of fire at his neighbors. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, deputy mayor of Chisinau Vlad Cotet said the decision concerning the transfer of the building under the municipality’s administration was drafted, but it must be approved by the Municipal Council. “We fulfilled our duties, but the Council did not. After the Council adopts this decision, the dwellers will be able to sign individual contracts with Union Fenosa,” he stated.
