Dwellers look impassively how somebody else cleans their stairs
Despite the expectations of the Chisinau local authorities, the dwellers do not engage in cleaning the stairs of the buildings where they live. Only several persons last week worked alongside employees of the municipal sanitation companies, Petru Gontea, the head of the Public Amenities Division, said at Monday’s ordinary meeting of the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports.
A number of 523 of the 4,693 stairs in the apartment buildings managed by municipal companies had been cleaned last week. “Only one or two persons on a staircase lend us a hand. At the same time, some of the dwellers make a mess in places that were already cleaned,” Petru Gontea said, adding that the dwellers allow yet the employees of the sanitation services to take water when they need.
Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked putting by a notice at all the entrances to buildings, explaining what the dwellers pay 1 leu per square meter for. Discussions should be held to choose by a person who will make sure that the stairs are cleaned. The mayor stressed that in other countries, the charges paid by the dwellers for clean-up are much larger than in Chisinau.
As many as 1,793 employees of municipal companies that manage the housing stock are engaged in clean-up works. A list of another 100 apartment buildings where the stairs will be cleaned the next days will be published on the City Hall’s website today.
