Dutch man suspected of pedophilia against Moldovan minors

A citizen of the Netherlands aged 23 is suspected of perverse sexual activity with Moldovan children younger than 14. The young man, who worked as a volunteer at an NGO registered in Chisinau during the last two years, is suspected of recruiting victims on social networking sites. He earned their trust and then arranged meetings with them in order to abuse them sexually, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, within the organization the suspect could get acquainted with minors from socially deprived families, whose trust he earned by giving them presents. Afterward, he set meetings with them in recreational places.

Evidence against him has been collected during seven months. On December 31, 2014 the suspect was arrested. He is now under arrest and is investigated for pedophilia. He faces three to seven years in jail.

Specialists say the sexual abuse in childhood is very wounding and can significantly affect the person. It can cause the interruption of the emotional, spiritual, intellectual and sexual development, negatively influencing the person’s social interests. The police call on the parents to be cautious and to monitor the social networking sites used by their children.
