Durlesti domestic waste disposed of 'for free and without a contract'
Unauthorized dumps in Chisinau's suburban town of Durlesti have been cleared and domestic wasted is disposed of daily by the municipal waste management utility “absolutely for free and without a contract”, its head Tudor Maniv complained.
“Residential consumers in Durlesti town aren’t serviced anymore by Avia Ungheni, which continues however to service corporate consumers. We must sort this issue out: either they stay and provide their services to residential consumers as well, or they leave altogether. So far, nothing has been decided and the Waste Management Enterprise takes care of the waste disposal absolutely for free and without a contract”, Tudor Maniv stated at the City Hall meeting on Monday.
He added that the utility installed dumpsters in the block yards where they were missing and took care of the daily waste disposal. The Chisinau City Hall however must decide how things will go on.
Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu stated that a joint decision of the Chisinau City Hall and the Durlesti Town Hall will be adopted in the coming days. The authorities will decide whether to invite bids to select another company for waste disposal or to pass the job to the municipal enterprise.
The issue of the waste in Durlesti occurred after the waste disposal company “Avia Ungheni” terminated the contract with the local administration. Its job has been temporarily passed to the Waste Management Enterprise.
