At most three TV channels in Moldova can survive with own resources, Dumitru Tira, director general of Realitatea TV channel, said in the program “Pahomi”, quoted by IPN.
According to him, the radio stations stopped to be a business in Moldova a long time ago, not mentioning the print media, except for some magazines probably.
In the program, Dumitru Tira revealed the reasons why he had to sell Publika TV to Vladimir Plahotniuc. “I built Publika with a lot of care. It is authentic television. But pressure was being exerted. The Tax Inspectorate sequestrated assets and technical means. We had to do something. We made offers to a number of businessmen and Plahotniuc was the only one who accepted our offer,” he stated.
The director of Realitatea TV channel admitted that he is often called by politicians who tell him that they didn’t like a program or a feature that concerned them, but noted that he never took money from these to polish their image.
