Dumitru Ţîra, the candidate of European People's Party of Moldova for the position of general mayor of Chisinau, urges the inhabitants of Chisinau not to choose between two evils and not to be afraid to vote against everyone on October 20. At an IPN press conference, the candidate mentioned that, following October 20, "Chisinau must become a city for the people, for their decent living, not for the mandate of a politician ".

Dumitra Ţîra described the campaign for the local elections as sad, "and that one would rather watch a movie than political, geopolitical debates or ping-pong debates about the duties and responsibilities of the mayor, the municipal council". Furthermore, he said that the Chisinau municipality," which brings over 4 billion lei yearly, had lazy and deceitful leaders, who fraudulently mismanaged the municipal budget".

According to Dumitru Ţîra, on October 20, "we have new elections, but nothing new". In his opinion, "we are again forced to choose between Russian rule, salvation through unification with Romania or a European future." He also says that " we are pressured as always to choose something that has no future for our city." The candidate mentions that "in all these years we have been obligated to choose between two evils, between something that expired last year or the other day."

The candidate claims that "there is a time in life when compromises with one’s conscience are no longer possible, because we paid too much to move the city from one party's pocket into another's pocket." Dumitru Ţîra says that "the election of the mayor is not about politics, it should not be about politics, nor about parties". In his opinion, "as long as the position of mayor is a political one, we will live like in the Government’s waiting room - in eternal awaiting, expecting something from the party."

Dumitru Ţîra also says that the mayor must be a man who loves all the inhabitants of Chisinau, who although are different, contribute and work for this city, making it rich. He also believes that "the mayor must be a smart man, a free man, who thinks day and night about people, who are the greatest and most important value of the country and city of Chisinau." The candidate states that "anyone who lives in the municipality of Chisinau can be a better mayor than all those who have been elected so far".
