A miniature bust of poet Dumitru Matcovski, which is to be installed on the Alley of Classical Writers in Chisinau, was presented by the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration. In a news conference at IPN, the Agency’s director Ion Ștefăniță said the poet deserves to have a bust near the classics of the Romanian literature.
Another project planned for 2019 is the restoration of the house where sculptor Alexandru Plămădeală lived. “We all lay flowers at the monument to Stephan the Great, but few know the state in which the house where sculptor Alexandru Plămădeală lived is. This building needs to be extensively repaired. It is a national architecture monument in the historical nucleus of the capital city,” stated Ion Ștefăniță.
The Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration presented a pilot-project to restore the water tower in Drochia town. “This water tower that is situated in the center of Drochia town is similar to the Water Tower of Chisinau and is a monument with protected status. We designed a project together with the National Council of Monuments and want this tower to be transformed into a multifunctional cultural center,” stated Ion Ștefăniță.
The multifunctional cultural center will include a tourist information center for the northern part of the Republic of Moldova. It will also be a museum of Drochia town. Ion Ștefăniță called on the citizens, the local authorities to support these projects. He said things in the Republic of Moldova can be changed if the citizens become involved.
