Dumitru Diacov about EP resolution: EU hopes Moldova will become a serious country

“The European Union hopes that Moldova will become a serious country one day and thus encourages us,” the leader of the Democratic parliamentary group Dumitru Diacov said, commenting on the European Parliament’s resolution. The MP has told Info-Prim Neo that besides being a message of encouragement, the resolution represents a warning for the political class of Moldova to deal seriously with the country’s affairs. “Moldova’s prospects to join the EU depend on a number of factors, including being a serious, predictable partner that can be trusted,” said Dumitru Diacov. He also said it is hard to believe that a resolution will make things move, but voiced hope that it will have a positive effect on the changes in Moldova. “If the MEPs wish good things to Moldova, we also must wish them,” said Dumitru Diacov. He stressed the situation in Moldova is unprecedented and very dangerous for the people and the political parties that must take a decision to clam things down. “We will see the scenario next week,” stated Dumitru Diacov. On September 15, the European Parliament approved a resolution with the recommendation to the Council, the Commission and the European External Action Service to offer Moldova the prospect of joining the EU one day. .
