Dumitru Alaiba, the former Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, will continue to work within the Ministry, but in a new capacity. PAS MP Ina Coșeru announced that Alaiba will occupy the position of adviser and will support the current administration, rejecting rumors about his possible appointment to a diplomatic position, IPN reports.
"For now, we are talking about keeping him within the Ministry's team to help the minister. He will serve as an adviser, as a representative of the team with all the institutional memory of two years or so, since he was appointed minister," Coșeru said in a talk show on TV8 channel.
For his part, former communist MP Iurie Muntean, a member of the "Alternativa" Bloc, believes that Alaiba quit as minister because he exhausted his resources in this position.
Dumitru Alaiba served as a minister for two and a half years and in the period coordinated economic and digital reforms aimed at modernizing the sector. He announced his resignation on March 13, and the next day Doina Nistor was appointed as Minister of Economy.
