Dumitru Alaiba outstrips Valeriu Ghiletski

The candidate of the bloc ACUM who ran in single-member constituency No. 51 the U.S. and Canada Dumitru Alaiba outdid his independent opponent Valeriu Ghiletski, who was a leader according to the election results early this morning.

With 76.9% of the vote records being counted, Dumitru Alaiba emerged as a leader with 54.06% of the poll, while Valeriu Ghiletski has 20.71% of the vote. Independent candidate Alexandrin Patron comes third with 10.54% of the poll, IPN reports.

In the other two constituencies abroad, the situation remained unchanged. The co-president of the electoral bloc ACUM Platform DA and PAS Maia Sandu won 79.82% of the ballot in single-member constituency No. 50 westwards Moldova, with 80.72% of the vote records being counted.

In single-member constituency No. 49 eastwards Moldova, with 85.19% of the vote records being processed, the outcome shows the candidate of the Party of Socialists Gheorghii Para gained 54.58% of the vote.

More than 76,000 Moldovans abroad voted in the February 24 legislative elections. The election in a single-member constituency is won by the candidate who receives the most votes.
