Dumitru Alaiba: 25% of patent holders switched over to independent activity

During three weeks of the launch of the reform, 25% of the patent holders switched over to the new fiscal regime, bought cash registers and continue trading activities, said Minister of Economic Development and Digitization Dumitru Alaiba. According to him, the opposition of the left and that of the right mislead the citizens, promoting the idea of an eventual annulment of the reform. If this false rhetoric hadn’t existed, the number of patent holders who passed to the new fiscal regime would have been higher, IPN reports.

The minister noted that during three weeks of the coming of the new fiscal regime into force, about 1,100 former parent holders switched over to independent activity. More than 300 of these filed applications to the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) to have the transition costs compensated and 50 already received the money.

“Over three weeks, we reached 25% of the transition. It goes only to those who switched over from patent-based trade to independent activity. In the Central Square, for example, a large part founded an Ltd. So, during the first three weeks, we have voluntary compliance equal to 25%. The mates from the State Tax Service daily make effort to persuade former patent holders, to inform them. More than 300 people already asked for compensation. By August 31, we aim to help as many people as possible to pass to the new regime of independent activity,” Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba stated in the program “Résumé with Ileana Pîrgaru” on RliveTV.

According to the official, in connection with the local general elections, the parliamentary and extraparliamentary opposition pleads for annulling the reform. This makes the traders put off the purchase of a cash register.

“We are not at all helped by the opposition politicians. Both the pro-European and pro-Russian ones misinform the people. In Balti, Orhei and in Gagauzia, particular politicians promote the narrative that this reform will be annulled. But our intention is not to annul this reform, but to help as many people as possible. However, when hearing something like this, the people get confused and, instead of having 35%, we have 25% of patent holders who passed to the new regime,” said the Minister of Economic Development and Digitization.

Under the law, any former patent holder who switches over to independent activity can have the incurred costs covered, in the amount of up to 10,000 lei, by submitting an application to ODA by August 31.

On December 31, 2022, there were 4,800 patent holders on the registers of the State Tax Service.
