The accumulation lakes Dubasari and Costesti-Stanca will be repopulated with fish. Such species as carps, ‘grasshopper’, and’ bloody twig’ will be released into the water during April 16- 29, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of the Environment, 1 million lei was allocated from the National Ecological Fund this year for repopulating the lakes and ponds with about 30,000 kg of fish.
The Costesti-Stanca lake is situated in the middle course of the Prut. It is 70 km long and 10 m deep. Over the last five years, there were recorded 26 species and subspecies of fish grouped into six families. In the Dubasari lake, there were identified 35 species and subspecies of fish that belong to eight families.
Fishing in all the rivers and accumulation lakes of Moldova is banned from April 1 until the end of June. Only the fishing of herring is allowed, except for a ten-day period during the mass migration.
