Drugstores must be situated at least 250 meters from each other
Drugstores can be opened at a distance of at least 250 meters from each other and 500 meters from drug making units. This is stipulated in a bill on pharmaceutical activity that was adopted by Parliament on April 1, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The authors of the bill explained that such a restriction is needed as the drugstores are now located mainly in central Chisinau and there are few of them on the outskirts. The situation in the municipality of Balti and such towns as Sangerei and Cahul is much the same.
The new law introduces the notion of community pharmacy. The informative note to the law says the drugstores in rural areas sell drugs on credit. The low turnover generates credit debts towards the suppliers and, as a result, maintenance debts. It was thus decided that those who will set up such drugstores will be exempted from paying the location tax.
