Drugs Agency staff lack proper training, inquiry commission

The staff of the Drugs Agency will undergo specific training to enhance the level of their professionalism, after a parliamentary inquiry commission headed by MP Gheorghe Brega found that they are poorly qualified besides being corrupt, Info-Prim Neo reports. Gheorghe Brega has remarked that the Agency has changed nine directors in the last six years, and the incumbent, while having general medical education, lacks specialization in pharmaceutics. The commission identified inadequate work conditions in the Agency's labs as another major drawback. Brega announced that a new set of Regulations will be proposed for the Agency which will provide, among other, that the Agency will test Moldovan drugs for conformity, rather than already internationally certified drugs, as it is practiced today. This and other proposals will be submitted to the Ministry of Health when the inquiry is completed.
