Classes were disrupted today at the community school in Mândâc village, Drochia district, after a 14-year-old from the neighboring village called 112 to report a bomb threat.
Drochia Police spokesperson Eugenia Molceanov told IPN a bomb disposal team was deployed to verify. The threat turned out to be a hoax.
The police identified the culprit shortly. The teenage boy said he wanted to make a joke. One that will now likely cost his parents a hefty fine.
The conveyance of false information about preparations for an explosion, arson or similar threats is a criminal offense punishable by a fine ranging from 27,500 to 42,500 lei ($1,570-$2,427), or 180 to 240 hours community service, or up to 24 months in prison.
