The head of Drochia district was fined by the court in a case of abuse of power. According to the National Anticorruption Center, the functionary abused his power by incorrectly implementing a decision of the Drochia District Council, IPN reports.

The district head issued a guarantee letter in the name of the Council even if he didn’t have such a power. By the letter, the district Association of Amateur Fishermen was offered 109 500 lei in aid for purchasing juvenile fish.

The Drochia court fined the functionary 3,500 lei for abuse of power and suspended him from the post of district head for a seven-month period. The decision is not yet final.

According to NAC, 44 cases were started so far this year over abuse of power, professional misconduct, illegal entrepreneurial activity, protectionism etc.
