Driving record fee set at 30-60 lei
A fee of 30 lei will be charged on the drivers who will want to find out how many demerit points they accumulated for traffic offenses. Copies of such driving records will be issued by the relevant territorial police bodies within 10 days. The issuance of such records in a one day's term will cost the driver 60 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“If the drivers find out how many demerit points they have, chances are that they will be more cautious on the roads in the future and will avoid traffic offenses”, Interiors Deputy Minister Valentin Zubic said at the Government's meeting on Wednesday.
Besides fines, the recently updated Code of Administrative Offenses (which also governs traffic-related offenses) provides for demerits. If, for example, the offending driver accumulates 15 such points within 6 months, a court may suspend his/her license for a period of 6 to 12 months.
For a single offense the traffic officer may apply up to 6 demerits, in cases where the caused accidents involve car damage or light bodily injuries.
