Drivers will travel with lights off during the day from March 31
The five-month period during which the drivers must travel with the lights on during the day as well expires on March 31, Info-Prim Neo reports. Studies show the drivers are more attentive when the vehicles involved in the traffic go with the lights on and the number of accidents is lower, said Tudor Capatana, the head of the Traffic Police Division's PR department.
The new regulations obliging the drivers to travel with the lights on in November-March during the day, when the visibility is poor, were approved by the Government last year. More than 3,500 motorists have been fined 20 to 60 lei for driving with the lights off since November 1, 2009.
From 201l, all the motor vehicles sold in the EU will be outfitted with lights that will come on automatically during movement.
