Drivers who will not give way to ambulances will be fined 500 to 600 lei

The traffic police will impose fines on the drivers who will not give way to ambulances and other special vehicles that have the siren and flasher on. A special operation to identify the drivers who break this traffic rule will be carried out all over the country from April 30 until May 2, Info-Prim Neo reports. The special operation “The Flasher” is aimed at preventing the number of road accidents involving ambulances, police cars and firefighting vehicles, said Tudor Capatana, spokesman for the Traffic Police Division. The fine will vary between 500 and 600 lei, plus four penalty points. The red light of the flasher obliges the traffic participants to stop the car by the roadside. The blue light requires giving way, while the yellow light announces the approaching of large-size vehicles or cars accompanying such vehicles. Only the ambulances, police cars, firefighting vehicles and special escorts are allowed to pass at red traffic lights. A number of 637 road accidents have happened in Moldova this year. They claimed 86 lives.
