Drivers’ war on Moldovan roads, traffic police

Over the first 11 months of the year, 2798 traffic accidents killed 417 people and injured 3559. Another 11.000 accidents caused various damages to property. The information was unveiled by Gheorghe Botnariuc, chief of traffic police, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the official, the data confirm the ongoing undeclared war between Moldovan drivers. Botnariuc said the main causes of accidents were excessive speed, risky maneuvers, drunk driving and jaywalking. The chief of traffic police recommends parents to be more careful about where their children go sledging during winter holidays in order to avoid traffic accidents. Gheorghe Botnariuc announced that the traffic police opened its webpage www.pr.gov.md , where people can find information about traffic security, road sectors with difficult traffic, laws and regulations on the topic.
