A number of carriers transporting passengers on the Chisinau-Ungheni and Chisinau-Straseni interurban routes were fined or deprived of license plates because they used vehicles in an improper technical state. Given the rise in the number of passengers during the Easter holidays, the Police of Chisinau carried out raids at the termini of these routes, IPN reports.

Following the initiated inspections, the police identified serious violations committed by drivers or mechanics of these routes. They imposed fines for the use of vehicles with defective braking system or direction mechanism. Penalties were also imposed for violating the rules of registering motor vehicles.

The fines vary between 150 to 600 lei, plus three penalty points. The inspections will continue in all the districts of Chisinau municipality.
