The driver who fatally struck a ten-year-old child by his car at a crosswalk on Dacia Blvd near the Chisinau International Airport was travelling at a speed of 85 km/h. The prosecutors completed the investigation and sent the case started against the 22-year-old man to court, IPN reports.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the accident happened close to 7pm on December 23. It was established that the driver ignored a number of traffic rules. He didn’t give way to the pedestrian who was at the roadside and intended to cross the street and didn’t make sure there was no one on the zebra crossing at a time when other cars stopped at the crosswalk. He hit the minor who died later in the hospital.
The prosecutors said the accused fully admitted his blame. On January 13, 2023, he was banned from leaving the country for a period of 60 days.
