The driver who intentionally went over three lying persons by his car for several times was sentenced to 17 years in jail. His accomplice was given a noncustodial sentence. The incident happened at a filling station in Țiganca village of Cantemir district on August 27, 2020, after the inebriated and aggressive culprits came into conflict with a group of persons, IPN reports.
The Cantemir Prosecutor’s Office charged the main culprit on three counts: attempted murder, aggravated hooliganism and driving under the influence in the absence of a driver’s license. The accomplice was charged on two counts. However, the judges considered the accomplice wasn’t involved in the murder attempt, acquitting him on this count. The court found him guilty only of hooliganism and gave him a five-year suspended sentence.
The prosecutors asked for 16 years in jail for the accomplice and intend to challenge the judgment.
While at a filling station in Țiganca village, the inebriated and aggressive men aged 22 and 27 came into conflict with a group of persons, hitting a man for several times, including with a gulf putter. Later, the two got onto the SUV car belonging to one of them and intentionally went over three of the victims. The scene was filmed by the surveillance camera installed at the filling station. The three persons were hospitalized, with one of them being admitted to the intensive care unit.
