Driver of minibus involved in accident in Orhei dies in hospital

The driver of the route minibus that was involved in a road accident in Orhei district died in the hospital. He was 58, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said that it was preliminarily determined that the minibus running on the Ocnița-Chisinau route travelled legally when it was hit head-on by a car that changed lanes between the villages Mălăiești and Fedoreuca. The car was driven by a man aged 27 and he had a 54-year-old woman as an occupant on the back seat.

It is not yet known why the car changed lanes and crashed into the minibus. The driver and the female occupant died on the spot. Twelve passengers from the minibus suffered injuries. The minibus driver died later in the hospital.
