Driver injures himself while trying to stop runaway car with foot

A 28-year-old man got his left shank bones open-fractured while attempting to stop his moving car by placing his left foot under the wheels. Eufalia Negreata, doctor coordinator of the Chisinau Emergency Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the man parked on a slope and forgot to pull the handbrake before getting out of the car. When the car started to roll downhill, the driver was quick to insert his left foot under the front wheel, injuring himself. The man was admitted to the Emergency Hospital with his left leg broken. On Thursday, March 6, a 38-year-old male pedestrian was hospitalized with head injuries and brain concussion after being hit by a Mitsubishi car on Ion Creanga Str. A 37-year-old man driving a BMW lost steering control and rammed into a lamppost on Calea Orheiului Str. The driver escaped with soft tissue injuries. An Orhei teenage boy, 16, was spotted wandering on Chisinau streets while being under the influence of drugs. The teenager was admitted to the Mother and Child Center for detox. On March 6, the Emergency Service recorded 690 calls, responding to 51 cases of trauma, 75 cases of acute viral diseases, 7 brain strokes, and 33 cases of mumps.
