Driver gives bribe to patrol inspector and then denounces him to NAC

An employee of the National Public Security Inspectorate is investigated for passive corruption. The police officer was denounced by a driver who complained to the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) that he was stopped in traffic and asked to pay a bribe, IPN reports.

The denouncer said that he was stopped by a patrol inspector for speeding near the intersection of the Chisinau streets Calea Orheiului and Ceucari in the morning of July 3. For not being deprived of the permit and not being fined, the driver was told to pay 500 lei. After giving the money, the man called the NAC.

The patrol office faces a fine of 50,000 lei to 100,000 lei and ban on holding particular posts or exercising particular activities for a period of up to five years for passive corruption.
