A man aged 30 burned to death in his truck that caught fire after colliding with another truck. The other driver, aged 58, suffered different traumas, being transported to the hospital. The accident happened near Răcovăț village of Soroca district last night, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, three trucks were involved in the accident. The 30-year-old man was travelling from Chisinau to Soroca. At the intersection with Racovăț, he tried to overtake another truck of the same make and collided head-on with a Volvo truck with trailer coming from the opposite direction, touching tangentially the fuel reservoir of the Volvo truck. As a result of the impact, both of the trucks started to burn, while the second DAF truck was projected outside the roadway.



The General Inspectorate for Emergencies said the firefighters managed to localize the fire in about an hour. The rescuers carried out extrication works and took the driver’s carbonized body out. The second driver was hospitalized.
