Dragoș Vicol tendered his resignation from the post of president of the Audiovisual Council in an extraordinary meeting on December 4. This is stated in a press release of the institution that does not yet specify the reasons for such a decision, IPN reports.
The Audiovisual Council also said that Ala Ursu-Antoci was elected chairwoman instead of Dragoș Vicol by secret ballot.
Before becoming a member of the Audiovisual Council, in February 2019, Ala Ursu-Antoci headed the staff of the Socialist parliamentary group, while in the parliamentary elections of 2019 she ran on behalf of the Party of Socialists.
Dragoș Vicol was named chairman of the Council in May 2017 after the then chairman Dinu Ciocan and the then deputy chairman Nicolae Damaschin resigned.
