The Moldovan Academy of Sciences (ASM), in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure and Ministry of Economics and Commerce, has worked out a draft industrial policy of Moldova for 2006-2016. The draft was published on the website of ASM and will be discussed at a national seminar soon. This is a strategic planning document and it includes basic principles, objectives and priorities of state policy on industry. According to draft developers, the strategic goal of the industrial policy of the state is to create a technologically developed, efficient and competitive industrial sector of economy, adjusted to European standards. The draft was worked out in compliance with principles stipulated by the December 11, 2002 basic document of the European Commission Industrial Policy in Enlarged Europe. The document was drafted after an analysis of evolution of Moldovan industry and present situation, experience of countries which have recently become members of the European Union, as well as basic acts of the European Commission concerning the industrial policy.
