Dozens of hectares of dry grass catch fire
Dozens of hectares of grassland started to burn in a number of settlements. During the last 24 hours, the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service dealt with 14 fires of the kind, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”Such fires usually occur in July, when the days are very hot. But this summer was cooler and the fires start now. They are the result of the people’s negligence or ill will. All of them were caused by humans,” Civil Protection and Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo.
The firefighters intervened to put out fires in villages of Cimislia, Dubasari, Ialoveni, Taraclia and Basarabeasca districts and in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. Six fires were extinguished in the municipality of Chisinau. The situation was rather serious near Danceni village.
As many as 148 Emergency Service employees dealt with emergencies on August 21. The Service warns against setting fire to dry grass in conditions of reduced humidity and strong wind as the flames can expand to houses.
