The heavy rain with hail that fell in recent days destroyed dozens of hectares of agricultural crops in a number of districts of the country, including orchards and vineyards. Also, the strong winds destroyed the roofs of households and social housing, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that in Măcărești village of Ungheni district, 11 hectares of vines, 12 hectares of sunflowers, 10 hectares of corn and 20 hectares of wheat were affected as a result of the torrential rain with hail.
The heavy rain with hail and the high winds also destroyed about 280 hectares of corn in Soroca district. There, the rain affected 43 hectares of orchards, about 130 hectares of sunflowers, as well as 80 hectares of sowed agricultural land.
The strong winds damaged the roof of the Temporary Placement Center for Persons with Disabilities in Bădiceni village of Soroca district. More than 200 sheets of slate and 160 square meters of wood paneling were damaged.
In Nisporeni district, in the localities of Bărboieni and Soltănești, the driving rain with hail destroyed 24 hectares of orchards and 26 hectares of vines.
The district commissions for emergency situations are working on the spot to assess the caused damage.
In recent days, the State Weather Service issued practically daily yellow warnings of atmospheric instability.
