Local authorities can’t decide who is in charge of cutting down the dried trees on the schools’ and kindergartens’ territories, as dozens of samples are subject to collapse. According to the director of the “Spatii Verzi” (Green Spaces), Eliferie Haruta, the territory around the schools and kindergartens is administered by the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, which is expected to take over the costs for cutting down the dried trees. However, the chief of the Department, Tatiana Nagnibeda states that for such actions no money was earmarked from the budget. At this moment, some hundreds of thousands of lei are required. According to the cited source, last year some of tree surgery was done with a couple of thousands of lei, covered by the district head’s offices. However, the financial resources weren’t sufficient for overcoming the danger of collapse. Eliferie Haruta said that this problem was signaled more than three years ago, but the previous city authorities haven’t handled it. The general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has solicited the parties to stop declining their responsibility in this matter, and to cooperate and propose a financing plan for cutting down the trees from the educational establishments areas.
